Liposuction

LIPOSUCTION

In people who do not have weight problems such as obesity but have fatliquoring that cannot be eliminated by regional slimming methods, surgical methods applied to remove excess fat tissue between the skin and muscles and giving to the body a better shape and contour is called liposuction. This operation is especially applied to the areas where stubborn lipidosis is existed such as buttocks, hips, abdomen, waist, knees and regional excess fat are seen.

Who are the ideal candidates for liposuction?

Liposuction is not a slimming method, it is a method that provides regional thinning and smoother body lines. If you have a weight problem other than regional fat deposition it will be more appropriate to get rid of your excess weight by following a controlled diet and sports program, and then applying to this method for excess fats that do not burn with the diet.

Which body regions can be treated by liposuction?

Body fat can be taken from any region. However, while certain regions are very suitable for this surgery, in some regions are not suitable at all. Best suitable regions;

• The most suitable regions for men are the waist, abdomen, “love handle”, under the neck (jowl).

• The most suitable regions for women are the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, inside the knees and inner and upper parts of the legs, ankles, under the neck (jowl), arms, back.

If excess fat is removed from the front of the legs and the bottom of the hips, very likely that collapses will occur. It is better not to take it if possible.

Before the surgery

  • You  have to get lab testing for medical evaluation,
  • You should keep going to take certain medications or adjust your current medications,
  • You should stop smoking,
  • You must avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements which can increase bleeding.

How is liposuction surgery performed?

Firstly, the regions to be liposuction are located. Afterward, the special liquid which dissolves the fat that is taken is given to these regions through 1-2 mm incisions with cannulas. With a lipomatic device, it is applied under the skin by vacuuming and removing fats using thin and long cannulas with a diameter of 2-3 mm. If there is excessive sagging in the skin other than fat, a tummy tuck can be applied besides liposuction.

It is applied under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, the operation takes 1-3 hours, you stay in the hospital for 1-2 night, you can return to work within 2-3 days. Complete recovery takes about 1 month. This process may vary from person to person according to the body fat percentage and the procedures to be performed.

The main purpose of this surgery is to remove the fat cells in which the fats are stored rather than the fats. After a person reaches puberty, the number of fat cells in the body does not change. Where the fats are stored depends on the number of fat cells in that area while gaining weight.

For example, if a woman has a million fat cells in her hips and you can reduce this number to five hundred thousand with this surgery, no matter how much weight she gains in the future, this lady will not have hips again. It is very important to understand this side of the surgery.

After Surgery

After the operation, special fabrication corsets must be used. These corsets are used for about 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the amount of adipose tissue taken and the person's characteristics.  Edema and bruises are expected to be seen, and this situation disappears over time.

Stitches are removed one week after the procedure and the patient may return to work and daily life if there is no problem in the general condition after one to three weeks. Normal exercises can be done 3-4 weeks after the operation.

In which cases is liposuction not applied?

It is not preferred to patients with chronic diseases, the elderly, especially those with cardiovascular and circulatory system disorders. Activation is important right after the liposuction process. We do not recommend liposuction in patients with this type of ailment, since they move very little and the risk of their disease increases.

Of course, people who lose weight at high levels apply to us considering that they still have lipoidosis because their skins are excessive. In these people, skin stretching surgeries are more suitable than liposuction.

We do not recommend liposuction for people who are overweight. It can be done when the weight-for-height ratio reaches a reasonable level after losing some weight. The remaining 3-5 kilos which are very difficult to lose with sports are taken in this way. The body is also shaped.

The person who loses weight with the diet and sees weight loss from all over, but does not lose satisfactorily of the problematic area. At this point, liposuction will be efficient.

  • Is there scarring after liposuction?

Liposuction is a technique that does not leave any scars while making the desired changes in the body and gives very good results under proper circumstances. Since it is usually entered through very small incisions, redness may occur at the entry points for a while.

These 2-3 mm diameter redness decreases over time and is replaced by shadowy spots as pearlescent. These spots which are not noticeable because they are very small, especially if they are placed at the curves, will take attention less.
