Implant Treatment

DENTAL IMPLANTS

What is dental implant?

Implant are screws made of titanium used in the treatment of missing teeth and placed inside the jaw bone. The dental prosthesis is implanted into these screws. The advantage of implant treatment over other treatments is that neighboring teeth are not damaged. In other words, no need for neighboring gear cutting. The implant acts as a dental root and you can easily eat, talk and laugh like a natural tooth.

Implant treatment conditions

Our dentist checks the person's overall health and whether the jaw structure is compatible with dental implant treatment before the dental implant operation. An x-ray is taken from the patient to determine the mouth modeling.

  • If a single tooth is lost, a single implant can be applied without damaging other neighboring teeth.
  • It is used in the absence of a large and back tooth. A fixed bridge can be created with one or more implants in the posterior parts of the mouth. In such cases, the prosthesis can be applied, but it is difficult to use because the prostheses are dynamic and more coarse.
  • The dental implant method is a very successful treatment, even if there are no teeth in the jowl. Both artificial teeth are obtained that are very similar to their natural appearance, and the teeth can easily perform all their functions with two or more implants are placed in the anterior part of the lower jaw.
  • This method can be applied easily in long toothless spaces. In cases where the toothless space is long, it causes problems in use to the people because of the fixed bridge area is long. However, in cases where the toothless space is long, artificial teeth are applied with one or more implants, which are more steady and have no problem in use.
  • It can be used on the upper and lower jaws without teeth. In cases of osteoporosis, there is a decrease in the volume of the jaw bone. When this situation is advanced, the patient becomes unable to use his prostheses. Therefore, in such cases, at least two implants are made to the upper and lower jaw, then the prosthetic teeth are fixed on the implant layer. The patient continues his life without losing his chewing and speaking function.

Implant teeth cleaning

If we consider that implants are extraneous in the mouth, you should never forget that implant cleaning needs care as much as your own teeth. In dental implant treatments, cleaning is the same as the cleaning of normal teeth in the mouth.

Besides brushing morning and evening, if your dentist deems it necessary, you must use mouth rinse water. At these stages, the most important thing is to have regular oral care for a successful and trouble-free treatment.

How long should an implant last?

The experience of the doctor and the patient's teeth care and oral health and smoking will limit the life of the implant tooth. If the oral health and dental health are not considered, the implants will not longevity. Implants that have placed under suitable conditions use for a long time.

Evaluating the patient's bone ratio and keeping it under control will prolong the life of the implant. Artificial teeth are used in implant treatment. The implants can be used for a lifetime when properly done and well maintained.

Factors that will shorten the life of the implants, such as not being properly cared for, having gum diseases, and not caring for the teeth, come along. Patients' habit of drinking alcohol and smoking will cause negative implant teeth as well as normal teeth.

Is dental implant suitable for everyone?

A person who is healthy enough to undergo having out tooth or oral surgery can consider a dental implant mostly. It is necessary to have enough bones and healthy gums. Patients should take care of paying attention to post-implant oral hygiene and visiting dentists regularly.

Heavy smoking, diabetes, or heart conditions, radiation treatments in the head/neck area should be evaluated on an individual basis for implant application. You should contact your dentist to find out if the implant application is right for you.

How long is recovery time?

Today, it is even possible to perform implant operations in just 10 minutes. The total time varies depending on the type of operation determined according to your tooth and bone structure. In general, the transaction is completed in the second month after the first operation. During this time, you will be able to continue your normal daily life with temporary dental prostheses.

Will I feel pain during implant application?

Local anesthesia that we use during tooth extraction is sufficient for a painless intervention. Conscious sedation or general anesthesia may be required due to some medical requirements or at the request of the patient. The painkiller that we give will be enough for you to have a comfortable postoperative period.

Most of our patients notice that less discomfort than a tooth extraction. You will not even feel the presence of implants in your mouth after your treatments are over.

Is there a risk of implants that being rejected by the body?

Research on surface properties has shown that titanium is tissue-friendly. Therefore, titanium has been used in implant production for a long time. There is no rejection of the implant by the body.

However, infections that develop during the recovery period and factors such as not paying attention to oral hygiene by patients, excessive consumption of alcohol and cigarettes; it can prevent the implant from joining with the bone. Depending on this, the implant may be lost. With the regular dentist checks and good oral hygiene, you can extend the life of your implants.

What happens if the implant screws don't bond with bone?

If proper implant methods and standard implant treatment procedures are not used in treatment techniques, unintended consequences may occur. Although such a possibility is quite low, these failures are mostly problems that begin to manifest themselves within the first 2 and 3 months of starting surgical interventions.

In such a case, the implant has to be removed from the implanted area as easily as tooth extraction. Following the healing of the bone in this area, a new implant can be placed or one of the classical type prostheses can be preferred.
